Group Project

In yesterday's session Susannah read out the idea proposals that we had written and we discussed which ideas we could work on.  We split into three groups and each group was given a location, scenario, characters and effects to be worked on.

Our group consists of Charlotte Hardy, Sam Brown, Dan Walsh and myself.  We allocated roles; Dan is Director, Charlotte and Sam are Art Directors and I am Producer.

It was also suggested that it would be a good idea for the Producer and the Director to take the role of Assistant Director at times to gain experience in that role.

(The Assistant Director makes sure everything runs to schedule and ensures that everything is set up for quick turn around.)

Our scenario takes place in a corridor (or other room) and involves a woman calmly chopping vegetables and then as the camera goes to close up on her face she becomes splattered with blood, we cut back to the chopping board to see she is now chopping body parts of her husband, although remaining perfectly calm, then she puts the veg and parts into a casserole dish.  When the casserole comes out of the oven the parts have formed into a baby.

At some point Susannah wants us to incorporate a strangely moving creature, maybe playing with backwards motion to achieve an unnerving effect.

Our film will be the third in a sequence of scenes created from the films of the three working groups.  The link to our film comes by using the device of a character from film two peering through a keyhole into our room.  Part of the beginning of our film will be the shot-reverse shot of the character looking through the keyhole into our room and the shot from within our room looking at the eye at the keyhole.

In our group we discussed what we would require in terms of location, set, props, action props, effects and cast.  We discussed the story and what shots and camera angles we would like to include in the film and how best to organise the group.

For the purposes of subsequent posts and administration I have given our film the working title of 'Baby Casserole'.
