TV Editing Style

A large part of the project for this module focuses on the style and art direction of the piece, so I am going to use this blog to record interesting styles and designs that I come across in my research and everyday viewing.

The following is a quirky editing style that I saw while watching Blue Peter on the BBC iPlayer.  It is very simple to achieve using an overlay, and I quite like the look of it: the blurred background and the in focus proper shot as a picture in picture.  I think it looks quite Greenaway-esque, which is always interesting to look at, and attracts the viewer's attention to what might well be an otherwise uninteresting piece of footage.
