Week 6: Set Dressing and Props Making

In our week 6 session we continued to work on dressing the set and organising the props that would also feature in the film.

Katie and I hung the drapes either side of the fireplace, and I put in the corner shelving unit, upon which we will have an assortment of curios made from various spooky items supplied by Susannah.

Some of the group are making a false arm prop, while others were putting the photos together.  The photos carry on the 'uncanny' theme for example, human bodies with animal heads.

Luke made some hybrid taxidermy and a spooky furry baby creature which he Christened Esmerelda and Dirk.  Esmerelda comprised of a dead deer's head dressed in a little girl's party dress, and Dirk was just a fur stole dressed in a babygrow, but the effect was quite spooky, it looked like an Ewok from Star Wars!

I adapted the deer head using volie and red material torn from a dress (which is supposed to give a freshly shot effect!)

We have put black fabric behind where the fireplace will be so that we can put in a fire in post production.

And I have begun work on making the bedding for the wakening and levitating scene.

I am really impressed with the way it has all come together.  Everybody shares the same vision of how the set should look and we all worked really hard in getting it built, decorated and dressed.
